Update -- The Galaxy defeated the Dynamo, 3-1, on Wednesday night in the semifinals of the U.S. Open Cup, and Houston Coach Dominic Kinnear was unhappy with his team’s performance. “The quicker we forget about this, the better we are,” he said. Kinnear blamed the loss on “lack of execution” by the offense and “absolute mental breakdowns” by the defense. “When we need to pass the ball or clear the ball, we’re making the wrong decisions and we’re getting punished for it,” he said. Houston is in second place in the Western Conference, four points ahead of the fifth-place Galaxy, which Kinnear said has improved dramatically under Coach Frank Yallop. “Landon [Donovan] is back and he’s motivated, Alan Gordon has found a form of confidence, Santino Quaranta is a good player, I think Ante Jazic has added to the squad,” Kinnear said. “They’re a confident team right now.”
