Chivas USA Manages a Tie After Late Goal Is Waved Off

HOUSTON — Alejandro Moreno’s apparent goal for the Houston Dynamo on a header in the final seconds of stoppage time was wiped out by an offside call, salvaging a 0-0 tie for Chivas USA on Sunday night.
Moreno’s header was the second apparent goal to be called back for offside. In the first half, Chivas forward Ante Razov fired a shot past Dynamo goalkeeper Pat Onstad that was waved off because Razov was behind the last defender when he received the ball.
The draw moved Chivas (9-7-12) into a third-place tie with Colorado in the Western Conference, one point behind the Dynamo (10-8-8).
Chivas played the last part of the match with only 10 men after defender Tim Regan received his second yellow card of the game in the 59th minute for a tackle from behind. Regan received his first yellow card in the 32nd minute after pushing Dynamo forward Alejandro Moreno.
Chivas played without team captain Juan Francisco Palencia, who injured a knee Wednesday against Dallas.
