Man jailed in alleged attempt to ram officer

A San Diego man was arrested Friday after allegedly attempting to ram an undercover Costa Mesa police officer, who fired several shots at the man’s car but missed.
Todd Gregory Laumann, 31, was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor scratches after crashing his car into a median after the altercation near the Ali Baba Motel in the 2200 block of Newport Boulevard, authorities said. He was expected to be booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. The incident occurred about 12:15 p.m.
