Generating a grin

DOES anyone other than me find it at all comedically ironic that Al Gore & Co. want to throw seven different concerts worldwide to raise awareness of the imminent threat of global warming [“All-Star Lineup for Live Earth Concerts,” April 11]?

Yet he’ll probably be using an obscene amount of electricity for the instruments and lights, as well as all the gas needed to run backup generators in case anything should go awry. Plus there’s all the littering the fans will do in the parking lots, and all the gas people will use to get there.

Seems to me they should all just take the money they would have made and donate it to his carbon points plan or something more useful. Because in attempting to throw a concert to raise awareness, they will only cause damage to the planet.
