Looks like it’s come one, come all for college stars

Then the dam broke....

The Big Two of college basketball look as if they’re about to become rivals for NBA rookie of the year, as Texas’ Kevin Durant announced he will go pro and Ohio State’s Greg Oden reportedly is set to follow.

Oden’s father, Greg Sr., told the Indianapolis Star that his son will come out. Greg Jr. was to meet with the other two heralded Buckeyes freshmen, Mike Conley Jr. and Daequan Cook, amid reports all three will leave.

Mike Conley Sr., the fledgling agent who would represent Oden and his son, told ESPN’s Andy Katz, “I anticipate them putting their name in but not signing [with an agent].”

Al Powell, an assistant coach to Mike Sr. on the AAU team the three played on, told the Dayton (Ohio) Daily News, “If it’s one [entering the draft], it’s all of them.”

Meanwhile, Ohio State Coach Thad Matta, about to lose 60% of his “Thad Five,” kept a lonely watch, saying of Oden, “I don’t think he has thought about it.”

He might not have wanted to hurt your feelings.

One-and-done blues

Fortunes rise and fall overnight in college basketball’s new One-and-Done Era.

With Ohio State’s bulb blinking, Kansas was the early No. 1 pick for next season because its key players were expected to stay.

However, sophomore Julian Wright changed his mind. With Brandon Rush thinking it over, the Jayhawks are now looking at rebuilding instead.

North Carolina is the new No. 1 with all its key players saying they’ll return ... except Brandan Wright, a projected top-five pick.

Sorting the latest prospects

Announced or otherwise, into the usual groups:

AS EXPECTED

* Oden -- Consensus top pick. ESPN’s Chad Ford just listed five reasons to take Durant first, but I expect him to come back with 10 reasons to take Oden first next week.

* Durant -- Consensus No. 2. Could be the most skilled freshman of all time, but at 6-9, 220, he’s a big small forward compared with Oden, who’s a big center at 7 feet, 280.

* Conley Jr. -- Might not make top 10 but has a shot to be the first point guard.

* Jeff Green, Georgetown -- Lottery pick, could make top 10.

* Roy Hibbert, Georgetown -- Ditto.

HUH?

* Arron Afflalo, UCLA -- Solid as he is, he has to show he can get his own shot on the pre-draft circuit to get in the first round.

* Wright -- Once projected at No. 4, a 6-8 athlete who does everything except (oops) score. Depending on whom you talk to, has fallen below two, three or four other wing players: Corey Brewer, Nicolas Batum, Al Thornton and Green.

* Cook -- Big guard who can shoot but disappeared, playing 16 minutes in two games, at the Final Four. Hasn’t shown he can get his own shot, but with his size and athleticism, he could work out well and get into the teens.

* Wilson Chandler, DePaul -- Athletic 6-8 freshman who averaged 15 points, but his entry was a total surprise.

* Marcel Jones, Oregon State -- A 6-8 junior forward who attended Santa Ana Mater Dei, his scoring average went from four to nine to 15, but three-point shooting fell to 30% last season.
