A Los Angeles bookkeeper has pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $1 million from a Culver City job placement company.

Gary Seiden, 42, was sentenced Thursday to five years in state prison by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David M. Horowitz, according to the state Franchise Tax Board.

Seiden wrote checks to himself on company accounts, then failed to claim the embezzled funds on his tax return, according to the tax board. He also was ordered to pay more than $1 million in restitution.
