Re “Court denies test drugs to dying patients,” Aug. 8

Giving dying people access to potentially lifesaving drugs should be a no-brainer. It would take only a willing Congress and a president’s signature. Which raises a question that should be posed to every candidate for that office: “Would you sign a bill allowing terminally ill patients, with no other treatment options, to receive medication not approved by the Food and Drug Administration?” Let every presidential candidate state their position now on this moral imperative.
