3 slain, officer hurt in road shootout
Two police officers responding to what they thought was a wreck on a downtown Dallas freeway were caught in a shootout between people from two cars, authorities said. Three people were killed and one of the patrolmen was wounded.
As one officer helped a person on the ground at the side of Interstate 35, his partner was shot by someone from inside a nearby car, authorities said. That shooter was among those killed, they said. “We do not know who shot who,” a police official said, but the officers said they did not shoot anyone.
