Disney dollars

The Mouse wants more cheese. Walt Disney World in Florida has raised admission prices for the third time in less than two years. Its one-day, one-park tickets now cost $71 for adults and $60 for children ages 3 to 9, plus taxes. Universal Orlando matched the $4 increase. (For both parks, you’ll pay less per day if you buy multiday passes, and Universal also discounts tickets bought online.) Disneyland in Anaheim, at $63 per adult and $53 per child ages 3 to 9, including taxes, remains a comparative bargain.

Yosemite snaps

The superstars of early Yosemite photography come together at an exhibition of 50 photographs and related items through Oct. 28 at the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University in Palo Alto. In “Yosemite’s Structure and Textures,” images of the valley taken by Carleton Watkins, Eadweard Muybridge and George Fiske date to the 1860s and ‘70s and are displayed side by side with 20th century works by Ansel Adams. Good manners

The ugly American? Mais non, said 1,500 European hotel managers when asked to rank tourists’ traits by nationality. American visitors, they said, are the most generous, most interested in local cuisine and most willing to adopt the local language. On the downside, they said, we’re the worst dressed. The managers, polled online by the German branch of Expedia.com, ranked Americans No. 2 as “overall best travelers,” next to the Japanese. The worst travelers, they said, are the French.

Personal software

Instead of that sheaf of papers slopping around in your carry-on bag, you can create order by entering pertinent information on the Portable Travel Profile, a USB drive that’s smaller and flatter than a Bic disposable lighter. Island access

The Hawaii Superferry service is accepting reservations for daily inter-island departures, scheduled to begin Aug. 28, from Oahu to Maui and Kauai. The base fares for one-way trips are $42 to $62 per adult; $41 to $51 for seniors, retired military, and children ages 2 to 12; and $17 for infants. A lounge upgrade costs $20 per passenger. Vehicles will cost $34 to $104. But the big catch is a fuel surcharge, which varies monthly (for tickets purchased during August, it’s 30.8%), on each passenger and vehicle fare.
