And the American Music Award goes to . . . the Nokia Theatre.

The American Music Awards is moving into the new 7,100-seat downtown L.A. theater with its 35th-anniversary show on Nov. 18, and the broadcast of that ceremony on ABC will mark the national television debut of the venue.

The theater will open Oct. 18 with a six-night stand by the Eagles and the Dixie Chicks. Other early bookings include Video Games Live on Oct. 19, Sugarland on Oct. 27 and Anita Baker on Nov. 3.

The Nokia Theatre is a centerpiece element of L.A. Live, the 27-acre entertainment, residential and commercial complex that is opening this year adjacent to Staples Center.
