at Cleveland 6, Minnesota 5: Jake Westbrook (5-7) got his fourth win of August, rookie Asdrubal Cabrera drove in the go-ahead run and the Indians kept a tight grip on the AL Central lead. Travis Hafner hit a two-run homer off Boof Bonser (6-11) and Grady Sizemore added a solo shot for the Indians, who have won four straight and are 9-3 since Aug. 15 -- the day Cabrera replaced Josh Barfield in the starting lineup.

at Kansas City 6, Detroit 3: Brian Bannister won for the sixth time in seven decisions and Alex Gordon hit a three-run double for the Royals. Magglio Ordonez went four for five for the Tigers and is hitting .404 in August. Detroit stranded 13 runners, including 10 when Bannister was pitching.

Toronto 5, at Oakland 4: Matt Stairs homered and Lyle Overbay hit a tiebreaking two-run double in the eighth inning. Alex Rios had two hits for the Blue Jays, who won for the third time in four games. Jack Cust drove in two for the A’s, who lost their fifth straight.

Tampa Bay 15, at Baltimore 8: The Devil Rays scored 11 eighth-inning runs during another embarrassing performance by Baltimore’s bullpen, and the Orioles wasted six home runs. The Devil Rays trailed, 6-3, before sending 15 batters to the plate in the eighth. Seven players drove in runs, including two apiece by Greg Norton, Carlos Pena, Dioner Navarro and Jonny Gomes.

at Texas 4, Chicago 3: Marlon Byrd hit a tiebreaking single in eighth inning and the Rangers won their third in a row.

at New York 5, Boston 3: Johnny Damon hit a tiebreaking homer against his former team and Andy Pettitte won his sixth straight start.

Angels 10, at Seattle 6: Vladimir Guerrero had four hits and three RBIs as the Angels rallied from five runs down.
