A 66-year-old chauffeur who says he has helped solve more than 40 crimes by passing information he gleaned from passengers to Anaheim police said he was repaid with a kidnapping and beating.

Police refused to confirm that Kamran Mashayekhi is an informant. They did say that officers arrested Gilbert Carrillo, 26, at his Buena Park home Thursday and that he was being held Monday on charges of robbing and imprisoning Mashayekhi. He was also charged with threatening a witness.

Carrillo lured Mashayekhi to his home Thursday night and beat his hand with a hammer, threatening further injury if he continued to work with police, Mashayekhi said.

“You help the police and when they are done with you, they wash you off,” Mashayekhi said.
