Santa Barbara moves to 9-1
Alex Harris made six three-point baskets and scored 25 points to lead UC Santa Barbara to its seventh straight win, 81-61, over visiting Utah Valley State on Friday.
The Gauchos (9-1), who also got 12 points each from Chris Devine and James Powell, are off to their best start since going 15-1 in the 1988-89 season. Ivan Elliott had 11 points and seven rebounds.
The Wolverines (3-6) lost their fourth straight despite Ryan Toolson’s four three-pointers and 25 points.
Toolson’s three-pointer got Utah Valley to within 31-28 with 3:11 left in the first half. But Harris’ three-pointer fueled an 8-0 run to end the half for UCSB, which shot 50% from the field.
