Make a call, prevent violence

Share

Thanks to Dr. Ulene and The Times for publishing an article about teen dating violence [“The MD: “Too Often, Teen Dating Poses Hidden Risk,” Dec. 3]. As explained in the article, this is a significant problem that is often not discussed openly.

Open discussion about interpersonal violence at home and in our schools will help everyone to be safer. Hotlines are available to those in abusive relationships, and also to their friends and families. It is common for those close to victims of abuse to be reluctant or afraid to raise the topic. Calling a hotline can help by providing support and practical advice about how to best approach a friend or family member.
