Council to review LAX cost overrun
The City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to review a $17.2-million change order for a contractor to complete additional work in a massive remodeling project at LAX’s Tom Bradley International Terminal.
The extra money, which would boost the contract amount to Clark Construction Group and McCarthy Building Co. to $532 million, was approved Dec. 3 by the city’s Airport Commission.
“This project, which is quickly approaching the $1-billion mark, will renovate the Tom Bradley Terminal, but will not build even one new contact gate,” said Councilwoman Janice Hahn. “It is well within the council’s purview to ask questions and seek answers to where all this money is being spent.”
