Pepperdine (5-6) at Brigham Young (8-2), 6 p.m. PST -- An 83-65 victory at Pacific last Saturday showed vast improvement for the Waves, who lost to Pacific, 84-76, a month earlier. Freshmen Tyrone Shelley and Malcolm Thomas are averaging a combined 31.2 points and 15.2 rebounds. BYU, ranked No. 25, has the nation’s longest home win streak, 36 games.

Loyola Marymount (3-7) at UC Riverside (2-6), 7 p.m. -- Loyola Marymount is coming off a victory over Boise State last week and is looking to post consecutive victories for the first time this season. Riverside hasn’t played since Dec. 4 and has lost consecutive games but is holding opponents to 66 points a game.

Cal State Bakersfield (1-8) at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (4-5), 7 p.m. -- Cal Poly SLO has hit a slump, shooting only 34.4% and averaging 56 points in losing three of their last four games. Bakersfield has lost six in a row. The first-year Division I team is led by Terrence Johns, who is averaging 15.7 points.

NONCONFERENCE

San Francisco (4-5) at UC Irvine (3-5), 7 p.m. -- Irvine ended a four-game losing streak with an 87-53 victory over Alaska Fairbanks last Saturday that marked its largest margin of victory since November 2005. The Anteaters have made 24 of 40 (60%) three-pointers the last two games. Dior Lowhorn leads San Francisco with averages of 22.8 points and 7.7 rebounds.

NONCONFERENCE

Pepperdine (5-2) at USC (4-4), 2 p.m. -- The Trojans are trying to break a two-game losing streak after dropping one-sided games at Nebraska and Michigan while shooting 31.4% and 34.4%. Nadia Parker, a 6-foot-3 junior center, emerged from the trip averaging 10.8 points and is the team’s leading scorer. Heather Oliver scored a team-high 11 against Michigan in her first start. Pepperdine, seeking its first victory over the Trojans in 16 games, is led by guard Daphanie Kennedy (20.7 points, 3.1 assists) and Miranda Ayim (14.3 points, 9.0 rebounds) . Last time they met, USC defeated Pepperdine, 64-63, when current USC Coach Mark Trakh was coaching the Waves during the 2002-03 season.

UCLA (4-4) at Brigham Young (4-6), 3 p.m. PST -- The Bruins rank 12th in the nation in scoring at 77.6 points a game. Lindsey Pluimer, a 6-foot-4 senior forward, leads UCLA with averages of 14.3 points and 7.8 rebounds. Pluimer will be up against a former San Clemente High teammate, 6-3 senior center Lauren Riley-Varley, a Mountain West Conference honorable mention selection last season. The Cougars have lost four of their last five games.
