Ottawa 3, at Boston 2: Jason Spezza scored two goals and the Senators won their sixth in a row in a matchup of the Eastern Conference’s top teams.
at Carolina 3, Toronto 2: Scott Walker scored in overtime after the Hurricanes scored twice in the final 1:25 of regulation. Walker’s deflection of Eric Staal’s slap shot came 32.6 seconds before the game would have gone to a shootout and gave the Hurricanes their second consecutive victory.
Calgary 3, at Columbus 1: Jarome Iginla scored his team-leading 24th goal and Miikka Kiprusoff made 36 saves to help the Flames extend their winning streak to six games.
Phoenix 3, at Philadelphia 2: Peter Mueller scored at 6:25 of the third period to break a tie. Mueller punched in a rebound during a scramble after Marty Biron had turned away shots by Zbynek Michalek and Steven Reinprecht.
at Atlanta 6, Tampa Bay 2: Garnet Exelby, Mark Recchi and Slava Kozlov each scored first-period goals to help the Thrashers end their four-game losing streak.
at N.Y. Rangers 4, Pittsburgh 0: Scott Gomez scored twice and the Rangers held the Penguins to five shots through two periods. Sidney Crosby was held without a point for the sixth time this season, but the fourth in six games. He has only one goal in nine games.
Florida 3, at Montreal 2: Jozef Stumpel and Brett McLean scored first-period goals and Tomas Vokoun made 23 saves. Stumpel scored his fifth goal on a two-on-one with Olli Jokinen. Stephen Weiss also scored for the Panthers.
at Minnesota 3, Nashville 2: Marian Gaborik, Eric Belanger and Brian Rolston all scored in the third period to bring the Wild back from two goals down and give Coach Jacques Lemaire a victory in his 1,000th career game. Nashville, which has lost four in a row, failed to hold a 2-0 lead after two periods.
Dallas 2, at Edmonton 1: Sergei Zubov scored the only goal in a shootout and the Stars won their fourth in a row. Dallas has won six of eight and 12 of its last 16. The Oilers’ three-game winning streak came to an end
at Vancouver 5, New Jersey 0: Markus Naslund scored twice and Roberto Luongo returned from a rib injury to make 31 saves. Martin Brodeur finished with 19 saves for the Devils, who are 2-3-1 since a nine-game winning streak.
Ducks 2, at San Jose 0: Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 20 saves in his first shutout of the season.
