From Times Wire Reports

A ruptured gasoline pipeline exploded near Nigeria’s main city of Lagos, killing at least 34 people as they tried to scoop fuel from the leak.

A charred swath of bush littered with jerrycans and buckets was all that remained after firefighters put out the blaze.

Police said they counted 34 bodies, but Red Cross officials said the final toll might never be known because residents had buried some of the dead.
