Woman dies after hitting patrol car
A woman died early Thursday when her SUV slammed into a police car that was stopped at an intersection, seriously injuring the officer inside
Driver Rebecca Elizabeth Cooper, 27, died after being ejected from her vehicle at the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Euclid Street about 2:40 a.m. Fullerton Police Officer Joshua Earnest, 23, was in critical but stable condition at UCI Medical Center.
The officer, who was on patrol, had stopped at the intersection when Cooper ran a red light and slammed into the driver’s side of the cruiser, police said.
The accident remains under investigation, and toxicology tests will be performed.
