Stars beat Sharks again

Joel Lundqvist and Stu Barnes scored early goals and the Dallas Stars played sterling defense in their second road victory over the San Jose Sharks in three days, 4-2, Thursday night at San Jose.

Krys Barch scored his first NHL goal in the third period after sitting out most of the second for fighting and Jere Lehtinen also scored as the Stars swept their miniseries with the Sharks to pull within three points of second-place San Jose in the Pacific Division race.

Vancouver 5, Edmonton 3 -- Markus Naslund’s goal with 1:57 left helped the host Canucks survive a wild four-goal flurry in the final three minutes and beat the Oilers.

Phoenix 3, Nashville 2 -- Yanic Perreault broke a third-period tie with 5:29 left, lifting the Coyotes over the Predators at Glendale, Ariz.

Minnesota 5, Colorado 3 -- Mikko Koivu and Marian Gaborik each scored two goals to help the Wild win at Denver.

Tampa Bay 4, Carolina 0 -- Johan Holmqvist made 31 saves and the Lightning extended its franchise-record road winning streak to seven with a victory at Raleigh, N.C.

Buffalo 3, Boston 1 -- Chris Drury scored twice and Martin Biron made 33 saves to lead the Sabres to victory at Boston.

New York Islanders 5, Atlanta 2 -- Jason Blake scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period and Miroslav Satan had a goal and two assists to help the Islanders win at Atlanta.

New Jersey 6, Philadelphia 5 -- Brad Lukowich scored with 49.5 seconds left in overtime and the Devils extended the Flyers’ franchise-worst home losing streak to 12 games.

Florida 6, Washington 3 -- Jozef Stumpel and Martin Gelinas each scored two goals, lifting the Panthers to victory at Sunrise, Fla.

Pittsburgh 5, Montreal 4 -- Evgeni Malkin faked out David Aebischer in the shootout and the host Penguins earned their fifth consecutive victory.
