Washington State keeps winning

Taylor Rochestie scored a season-high 16 points off the bench and Derrick Low made two free throws with 16.7 seconds left to help No. 10 Washington State beat Washington, 65-61, Wednesday night at Seattle.

Freshman center Spencer Hawes had 22 points and sophomore forward Jon Brockman had 15 for the Huskies.

The Cougars (22-4, 11-4 Pacific 10 Conference), who received their highest rating ever in this week’s Associated Press poll, won their fifth straight conference game this month after an overtime loss to Oregon.

The Huskies (16-9, 6-8) had won five of their previous six league games.

Robbie Cowgill made a key free throw for the Cougars with 7.3 seconds to go.

Duke 78, Boston College 70 -- Avoiding its first five-game losing streak in Coach Mike Krzyzewski’s 27-year tenure, the Blue Devils (19-7, 6-6 Atlantic Coast Conference) played pressure defense from the start at Boston to end the No. 21 Eagles’ four-game winning streak behind Josh McRoberts’ 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Sean Marshall had 23 points for the Eagles (18-7, 9-3).Duke was playing its first game after dropping out of the top 25 for the first time in nearly 11 years.

Ohio State 64, Penn State 62 -- The Buckeyes (23-3, 11-1 Big Ten) held on for their 10th consecutive victory after leading 40-19 at halftime and by as many as 24 points in the second half at State College, Pa.

Penn State’s Mike Walker missed a three-point shot at the final buzzer.

Greg Oden had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Ohio State. Geary Claxton scored 19 points for Penn State (10-14, 1-10), which has lost 10 in a row.
