Blues beat Predators
Bill Guerin scored late in the second period, Manny Legace stopped 19 shots and the St. Louis Blues ended a 14-game losing streak against the Nashville Predators with a 1-0 victory Friday night at St. Louis.
It was Nashville’s first game since it acquired center Peter Forsberg from Philadelphia in a trade Thursday night. Forsberg did not play, but he plans to make his debut with the Predators today at home against the Minnesota Wild.
Columbus 3, San Jose 0 -- The Sharks’ offensive woes continued at Columbus, Ohio, as they were shut out for the second game in a row, running their scoreless streak to 148 minutes 30 seconds. The Blue Jackets improved to 17-1-3 when leading after two periods.
Pittsburgh 5, New Jersey 4 -- The victory at East Rutherford, N.J., pulled the Penguins to within five points of the Atlantic Division-leading Devils with a game in hand. They have picked up at least one point in 15 consecutive games, winning 13.
Vancouver 2, Chicago 1 -- Trevor Linden and Brendan Morrison scored in the shootout, and Roberto Luongo made 34 saves at Chicago to give the Canucks their third win in a row.
