Wild spoils debut of Predators’ Forsberg

Marian Gaborik broke a 1-1 tie with a power-play goal at 11:59 of the third period, and the visiting Minnesota Wild ruined Peter Forsberg’s Nashville debut with a 4-1 victory over the Predators on Saturday night.

Gaborik also had an assist, Pavol Demitra added a power-play goal and an assist and Branko Radivojevic had a late goal as Minnesota won the season series, 3-1. Pierre-Marc Bouchard scored on a penalty shot with 4:48 left.

Nashville lost its second in a row and sixth in 11 games since the All-Star break.

Philadelphia 5, New York Rangers 3 -- Scottie Upshall scored a key goal in his debut with the Flyers and Philadelphia won at New York. The Rangers’ Brendan Shanahan was taken off the ice on a stretcher after a collision with Mike Knuble. X-rays and a CT scan on Shanahan were negative. Knuble fractured his cheekbone and orbital bone, and is expected to have surgery in a few days.

Calgary 5, Colorado 2 -- Kristian Huselius scored twice and set up Dion Phaneuf’s tiebreaking goal and the Flames won at Calgary, Canada.

Detroit 4, Phoenix 1 -- Henrik Zetterberg had his first career three-goal game at Glendale, Ariz., and the Red Wings completed a four-game season-series sweep of the Coyotes.

New Jersey 2, New York Islanders 0 -- Martin Brodeur stopped 26 shots in his NHL-best 11th shutout of the season and third against the Islanders to lead the Devils to victory at Uniondale, N.Y.

Carolina 5, Montreal 3 -- Rod Brind’Amour scored his second goal of the game, and the 400th of his career, late in the second period to lift the Hurricanes to victory at Montreal.

Toronto 4, Edmonton 3 -- Mats Sundin and John Pohl each scored twice and the Maple Leafs held off the Oilers at Toronto.

Boston 4, Buffalo 3 -- Petr Tenkrat scored the lone shootout goal to lift the Bruins to victory at Buffalo, N.Y.

Florida 5, Tampa Bay 4 -- Nathan Horton scored the winning goal 29 seconds into overtime at Sunrise, Fla.

Ottawa 5, Atlanta 3 -- The Senators won their fourth in a row overall and first in three games against the Thrashers at Ottawa.
