Another kid is going to get a chance with the Kings.

Lauri Tukonen, who has had tough luck since signing with the Kings, will make his NHL debut tonight against the Vancouver Canucks after being recalled Wednesday from the Manchester Monarchs, the Kings’ minor league team in New Hampshire.

He takes the place of forward Raitis Ivanans, who was placed on injured reserve with an infected cut on his right arm. Ivanans suffered the cut during Saturday’s game against the Ducks.

Tukonen, 20, a first-round pick in 2004, had 10 goals and 23 points in 43 games with Manchester this season.

“We consider him one of our top player prospects,” Coach Marc Crawford said. “But we’re rewarding him for his play, not because he was a first-round draft pick.”

Crawford said he was impressed with Tukonen during training camp, even though he was not at full strength because of off-season shoulder surgery.
