Oilers stop Red Wings

Ryan Smyth scored the only goal of the shootout Friday night, giving the Edmonton Oilers a 4-3 victory over Detroit that ended the Red Wings’ 13-game home winning streak.

Smyth, Raffi Torres and Marty Reasoner had goals for Edmonton in regulation and Dwayne Roloson stopped 27 shots.

Henrik Zetterberg, Tomas Holmstrom and Valtteri Filppula scored for the Red Wings, whose winning streak ended one short of tying a franchise record set in 1965.

Zetterberg has 14 goals and 27 points in his last 12 games.

Boston 6, Tampa Bay 2 -- Brad Boyes had two goals and Tim Thomas made 24 saves, leading the surging Bruins past the Lightning at Tampa, Fla.

Marco Sturm, Phil Kessel, Brandon Bochenski and Stanislav Chistov had Boston’s other goals. The Bruins have won eight of 10 to move within five points of Carolina for the final Eastern Conference playoff berth.

The Southeast Division-leading Lightning lost for only the fifth time in 21 games. It has a one-point lead over Atlanta.
