All aboard Air Force 2 reported OK
Vice President Dick Cheney’s plane from Sydney headed for Singapore today, with the White House saying it was a scheduled refueling stop and that Air Force Two had not been diverted.
Australian Prime Minister John Howard had said earlier that the plane was being diverted to Singapore because of unspecified problems.
White House spokeswoman Emily Lawrimore said there was a problem with a generator but it posed no safety threats and the aircraft and everyone on board were fine. Cheney had been visiting Australia as part of a trip to thank war allies Japan and Australia. She would not say whether Cheney was U.S. bound.
