LAPD officer shoots alleged gunman
An unidentified male was shot by a police officer Sunday night after allegedly pointing a weapon at the officer and his partner in South Los Angeles, authorities said.
Officer Mike Lopez, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department, said officers from the Newton Division gang unit were chasing a suspect on foot and followed him into an apartment building in the 2300 block of Wall Street.
Lopez said the unidentified male turned and pointed a gun at the officers, one of whom fired and shot the suspect.
The suspect was taken to a local hospital, but his condition was not disclosed. The officers were unharmed.
