No skeletons in her new closets

Share

AFTER a month-plus on hiatus, Tamara Taylor and the rest of Fox’s “Bones” brigade return with new episodes beginning Wednesday night at 8. This is her first season with the hit second-year show, but she’s a veteran of episodic TV, breaking through a decade ago in “Party of Five.” Now there’s “Bones,” a new house in Hollywood and a newly minted fiance. Life is good. Weekends too.

Almost like in Paris

On a Friday evening I’d start with a nice little posse of five or six people. If it were spring or summer, we’d head to the L.A. County Museum of Art to listen to some free jazz. Otherwise we’d head off to dinner at our old standby, Cafe Stella in Silver Lake. Great atmosphere; it feels as if you’re in a little Parisian bistro. They have the most amazing steaks, and Robert, the greatest waiter in the world, will suggest an amazing glass of red wine. After my creme brulee, we’d stop off for a nightcap at Vermont. It’s a real warm, neighborhood type of place and they usually have a DJ, so we’ll just have a drink and hang out for a while.

Yoga and an exhibit

On Saturday morning I’d go for a latte macchiato at Peet’s Coffee in the Valley. From there I’d make my way over the hill to U Studio on Wilshire for my Vinyasa yoga class with Andrea Marcum. It’s in one of those great old Art Deco buildings with a great view, so it’s a nice way to start the morning. It’s an exquisitely torturous class.

After that, I’d go to this teeny-tiny taco stand on Hillhurst called Yuca’s for a carnitas burrito. Or two. It’s an amazing place. Anything on the menu is the best; I never get sick of it.

If it was my ideal weekend, there would be a fantastic exhibit at LACMA, MOCA or maybe the Getty, and I’d spend the afternoon there. Later on, I’d go to the ArcLight and catch a movie. I like high-tech theaters with stadium seating, and I’m all about the food at the snack bar, and the one at the ArcLight is fantastic. It’s really a restaurant, and if you so desire, you can get a cocktail before the movie, but that’s not usually my thing because I’d fall asleep. After the movie, we’d go to the Little Temple Bar or the Echo if they have a DJ for a drink before we call it a night.

‘Ultimate payoff’

On Sunday, once the coffee kicks in, it feels as if I’m running around a mile a minute, so maybe we’ll go for a hike in Temescal Canyon. I love the ultimate payoff at the top, that amazing view of the ocean. On a clear day you can see all the way to Catalina -- it’s just incredible. Then we’ll take a drive along the coast and say hello to the ocean and breathe in the air.

Later, we’ll head over to the farmers market on Ivar. I love to get the fresh produce, and they have great flowers. Across the street is an amazing store on Cahuenga called Aklia’s. I always end up with some incense and amazing, one-of-a-kind jewelry with an ethnic flavor, and stuff for my house. I want to live at Aklia’s.

Once we get home and drop everything off, it’s Chihuahua time. We’ll take our two little dogs for a nice walk. And we’ve just moved into a place with a yard, so if we’re not energetic enough to take them around the block, we’ll just let them tear around the yard.
