Too bad the game’s not in the Bible Belt

Ask and ye shall be rebuffed?

An Indianapolis couple is banking on divine intervention for tickets to carry them to Super Bowl XLI.

“I am a big Colts fan and my husband and I would love to be there,” their EBay listing states. “It says in the Bible, ‘Ask and ye shall receive.’ So, I’m asking!!!”

As for those fans dependent upon more Earthly means of gaining access to Miami’s Dolphin Stadium on Sunday?

The average price Tuesday of a Super Bowl ticket on RazorGator.com was relatively stable at $4,050 for $600 and $700 face value tickets. Ticket prices have ranged from $3,200 to $9,000 in recent weeks.

The average Super Bowl ticket price on StubHub.com rose to $4,498 on Tuesday, up from $3,860 on Jan. 19. The average is being pushed up by higher prices for better seats. At the same time, starting auction price for lesser seats have dipped to below $3,000. “That shows me people are buying quality seats,” StubHub.com spokesman Sean Pate said.

The bartering also continues online.

Craigslist.com’s Super Bowl category includes an offer from an Elgin, Ill., resident to post advertising on his 2003 Dodge Durango in exchange for two Super Bowl tickets. The advertising would stay in place for a month. The fan also plans to drive to the game -- and is seeking Chicago Bears fans who would consider carpooling with him to cut costs.

The highest price paid for a Super Bowl item on Ticketsnow.com was $201,250 for a 20-person suite.

Still on the block: a 50-person suite available for $425,000. If that’s a bit pricey, the suite already has been marked down from $660,000 -- so stay tuned. StubHub.com has a 14-person suite in the end zone available for $144,122. A 50-person suite is going for $500,013.

Finally, StubHub.com offers this notice on its website: “Every person entering Dolphin Stadium for Super Bowl XLI will be required to have a game ticket, regardless of age or size.”
