A fashionable BET Awards

Share

The BET Awards at the Shrine Auditorium on June 26 celebrated hip-hop, R&B;, and soul, but once 1. Beyonce stepped on the red carpet in her crystal Dolce & Gabbana gown, it was all about heavy metal. Once inside, the booty-shaker picked up several statuettes to match the floor-length gown, which nearly outweighed her. That explains why she stripped down to a gold lame bikini top to perform “Get Me Bodied.” 2. Flavor Flav crowned himself before paying tribute to James Brown, and presenter 3. Vivica A. Fox also went for the gold in a sparkly mini-dress. It was gam on for 4. Kelly Rowland too, who showed hers off in a feather-trimmed bronze number, which still was several inches longer than the blue hot pants she rocked onstage. Also performing: host 5. Mo’Nique, who offered up a hair-raising rendition of Beyonce’s “Deja Vu” in a sassy silver baby doll. -- JENNY SUNDEL

Now open for burros

At the Pink Taco opening in Century City on June 28, splashes of the rosy hue appeared everywhere from the carpet for the arrivals line to the coat of mascot Pinky. But CEO Harry Morton apparently found the girlie-girl tone to be too much, as he opted to wear an all-black ensemble, as did 11. Kevin Connolly and 12. Amy Smart. 13. Jessica Alba mingled with Morton, left, and the editor in chief of Flaunt magazine, Luis Barajas, before sampling the Mexican dishes with her main man: Cash Warren. Meanwhile “Dancing With the Stars’ ” 14. Samantha Harris seemed content to pet the burro (and her burgeoning belly).

A St. Patty’s summer

Looks like Al Gore finally got Hollywood to go really green. 6. Mandy Moore played peek-a-boo in her emerald Jenny Packham gown at the June 25 premiere of “Licensed to Wed” at the Cinerama Dome while bassist 7. Bootsy Collins topped off his leprechaun look at the BETs with a starry lime hat. 8. Jewel took a less-loud approach to the color Monday when she performed at the Rock the Kasbah Ball in an empire-waist teal dress.

Those Autobots sure know how to throw a party

9. Megan Fox lived up to her last name at the premiere of “Transformers” on June 27 in a sparkly silver Collette Dinnigan cocktail dress, which nearly eclipsed the 25-foot Bumblebee statue that loomed large over the blue carpet. 10. Tyrese Gibson, left, Josh Duhamel and Shia LaBeouf suited up before letting loose at the Westwood block party, where the revved-up crowd of 4,500 partied alongside the cars from the film, which rested on risers.
