Beverly Hills will consider Iran divestiture
The Beverly Hills City Council agreed Tuesday to review Mayor Jimmy Delshad’s proposal that the city eliminate its pension fund investments in foreign companies operating in Iran.
The proposal, designed primarily to back the state divestiture bill, AB 221, will be sent to a subcommittee to determine possible ramifications of its adoption, Delshad said. If the proposal is approved by the subcommittee, a support letter will be sent to Assemblyman Joel Anderson (R-San Diego), who introduced the bill in January.
Council members are to discuss Delshad’s proposal at the next meeting, July 24.
