A review of what happened in Tuesday’s stage and a look ahead at what to expect for today’s stage:

* Tuesday’s stage: Took riders along a 147-mile course out of Belgium and into France from Waregem to Compiegne.

* Winner: Race leader Fabian Cancellara of Team CSC added to his win in Saturday’s prologue. Erik Zabel of Milram was the best of the rest. Cancellara had feared losing the yellow jersey to one of the four breakaway riders. So when the peloton caught up to the breakaway near the finish line, Cancellara, having been shielded from high winds by teammates, had enough left to surge ahead and overtake the four with roughly 400 yards to go.

* Yellow jersey: Cancellara leads Andreas Kloeden of the Astana team by 33 seconds. David Millar is 41 seconds back in third place.

* Quote of the day: “I have no words after winning something like that.” -- Cancellara.
