From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Six people -- including four children waiting next to an ice cream truck -- suffered minor injuries Thursday when the driver of a stolen van crashed into the truck at a park, authorities said.

The four children were hurt by debris from the collision or after the ice cream truck brushed against them, authorities said. The others injured were the father of one of the children and the operator of the ice cream truck. All six were taken to hospitals, mainly as a precautionary measure, officials said.

The driver of the van ran from the scene after the collision, which was reported about 3:40 p.m. in the 4600 block of North Figueroa Street, police said. The incident was being investigated as a hit-and-run and grand theft.
