Hates being at a loss for Words

On June 28, I eagerly checked the listings in the Orange County edition of Calendar Weekend for the Words listing of literary events, author appearances and poetry readings.

However, beyond all the changes at The Times, one thing hasn’t changed: Whenever space is short -- though compilations of music, dance, comedy, even museum events abound -- Words is always the first to be cut. Funny, I always thought newspapers were all about readers and writers. Hmm ...
