Another museum?
IT is too bad that Christopher Knight [“Italy Tries Something New,” July 15], in his excitement about a new modern art museum being built in Venice, doesn’t realize that the very last thing Venice needs is another museum.
Unfortunately, too many people seem to forget that Venice is a real city, inhabited by real people with real needs, and unused warehouses would better serve those needs by becoming grocery stores, not museums! He didn’t also seem to mind that the entire area around the Punta della Dogana is now completely closed off, so that Venetians and tourists alike are forbidden access to one of the nicest (and breeziest!) spots in Venice.
