A night at the Opera

Steven Harlow is getting ready to sing his latest aria. The Hollywood doorman-turned-promoter is hosting a grand opening party this Saturday for Opera, David Judaken’s latest confection. Opera is one half of the old club Vynyl. Judaken also owns Crimson, a rock club at the same spot.... Harlow’s Tuesday night affair at the Tropicana in Hollywood is also packing heat. Such revelers as Reggie Miller, Rob Schneider and Gabrielle Union have rocked out at the poolside club to DJ Marshall Barnes’ cool brew.... Eva Mendes, Jason Lee and Giovanni Ribisi checked out the Viper Room for WeHo’s latest promotion, Girl School, a monthly club hosted by Viper employees’ Melissa Hernandez and Anna Geyer. Last Thursday’s opening night featured a performance by Har Mar Superstar and his techno band (which includes Fab Moretti from the Strokes on drums and Tony Bichon of the Distillers on guitar). The next Girl School is set for Aug. 23.

Just what this town needs: another Vice. That’s the new name for Steve Fowler and Steve Goldberg’s upcoming club at the former Star Shoes on Hollywood Boulevard. They’re thinking, a kinder, gentler Hyde, i.e. swanky but easier to cruise into. Vice is set to make its debut mid-August.... DJ Baby Dayliner is the latest Hollywood phenom. He spun at a recent bash at Les Deux in Hollywood that was hosted by actor Adrian Grenier and party boy Tommy Alastra.... In more Les Deux news, Ian Ziering, Brody Jenner and Michelle Rodriguez helped blow out the candles last Tuesday at the club’s first-anniversary party.... Those looking for an endless summer may want to head to Bordello downtown on Sunday nights for the dreamy surf band, Blue Hawaiians.... Teen hip-hop promoters L.A.’s Realest just launched the all-ages club Mirage at Forbidden City last night and will debut the 18-and-older club Entice at Cinespace tonight.

Save the date: Monkee Peter Tork is scheduled to sign his latest CD, “Shoe Suede Blues,” at Beauty Bar in Hollywood on Aug. 1.... And before hitting the skids again, Lindsay Lohan hit the Penthouse at the Huntley Hotel. The actress was among the party people Friday who showed up at the uber-sizzling Santa Monica hotspot. Also in the house were actresses Helen Hunt and Rosario Dawson.... I received a flurry of text messages that the Beckhams were due to show up too. So naturally, I went to bed.
