Yura Movsisyan scored in the 89th minute to give the Kansas City Wizards a 3-2 win over Chivas USA on Sunday night.

Chivas tied it at 2-2 in the 54th minute when John Cunliffe scored a minute after Davy Arnaud’s free kick for the Wizards (8-5-5), who remained a point back of New England in Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference.

Chivas (8-6-3) went up early when Jonathan Bornstein took a beautiful pass upfield from Ante Razov and scored from 18 yards out despite being surrounded by four Wizards players, including goalkeeper Kevin Hartman.

The Wizards tied it in the 37th minute on a 35-yard blast by Kerry Zavagnin that found the upper-right corner of the net, and went ahead on Arnaud’s goal from 30 yards out.

But that lead lasted only a minute, as Chivas quickly regathered and countered on Cunliffe’s close-range shot over Hartman.

They were minutes from earning a draw when Movsisyan scored in traffic in the upper-left corner of the Chivas penalty area.

Dribbling to his right, he turned and fired a quick shot inside the right post.
