* at St. Louis 6, Cincinnati 4: Albert Pujols’ two-run home run broke a seventh-inning tie, helping the Cardinals beat the Reds for their sixth win in seven games. The defending World Series champions are five games behind Milwaukee in the Central Division, the closest they have been since April 29, the day before reliever Josh Hancock died in an auto accident. St. Louis was 10 games back on May 21.

* at Arizona 1, San Francisco 0: Chris Young hit a home run to center field leading off the seventh inning, lifting the Diamondbacks to their 11th win in 12 games. On Tuesday, Young beat the Giants with a home run in the bottom of the 10th inning. Brandon Webb (6-3) won his third straight start.

* at Colorado 8, Houston 7: Brad Hawpe hit a tiebreaking two-run triple in the seventh inning for the Rockies. Matt Holliday went three for three and is 11 for 14 in his career against the Astros’ Woody Williams.

* Florida 7, at Atlanta 4: Aaron Boone hit a two-run home run and the Marlins won three of four in the series. Boone’s fifth home run was his second in three games against the Braves, who have lost four of five.

* at Washington 6, Pittsburgh 5: Cristian Guzman scored the winning run on a wild pitch by Salomon Torres and the Nationals ended a three-game losing streak. Guzman started the decisive rally with a one-out single off Torres (0-3) in the ninth inning.

* Philadelphia 4, at New York 2: Jimmy Rollins hit a go-ahead, three-run homer in the seventh inning, rallying the Phillies past the Mets, who lost their season-high third in a row.

* Chicago 6, at Milwaukee 2: In addition to getting the win, Carlos Zambrano had two singles and a run batted in.

* at San Diego 5, Dodgers 2: Of his 500 career saves, Trevor Hoffman has 58 against the Dodgers, the most he has against any team.
