Pedestrian struck, killed in crosswalk

A pedestrian was struck and killed at a crosswalk in Hollywood early Monday by a suspected drunk driver, police said.
The accident occurred about 1:50 a.m. at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Detroit Street, said Sgt. Michael Barela, of the Los Angeles Police Department. A vehicle traveling east on Sunset Boulevard hit the man as he walked south in the marked crosswalk, he said.
The motorist, who may have been driving under the influence, was taken into custody, Barela said.
An investigation is continuing.
