ITALY

Hilton Molino Stucky

What’s new: This super-luxury Venice hotel that opened recently claims to have the city’s first rooftop hotel pool and its biggest spa. Named after a defunct 19th century flour mill and granary, the 13-building complex that is minutes by water from touristy Piazza San Marco underwent a $337-million restoration that transformed it into a 380-room hotel. At nine stories, it’s high by Venice standards. Although modern, the complex retains historic touches that date back to 1895, such as pointed turrets, a red brick facade, silo-shaped ceilings and a mosaic of Demeter, the Greek harvest goddess.

Info: Giudecca 810, Venice. Room rates begin at more than $1,000 per night in high season (April to June and September to October) and nearly $400 per night during the rest of the year. Call 011-39-041-272-3311 or visit www.hilton.com/venice.
