Holistic discipline
Re “L.A. Board of Education adopts discipline policy aimed at reducing suspensions,” Feb. 28
The new holistic discipline policy for the Los Angeles Unified School District is about as helpful as pouring oil on a fire. One gets a feeling that the people who make these policies have not been in a classroom in decades. The policy assumes that the disruptive child would not be in trouble if teachers were more understanding. Does the new politically correct policy consider that the disruptive child diminishes the teacher’s time with the other 35 students who really want to learn?
