L.A. is swimming in masters classes

Share

I very much enjoyed reading Jeannine Stein’s Feb. 26 article “Another Shot at Glory.”

L.A. Times readers may be interested in knowing that the country’s largest masters swim program is located right here in Los Angeles. It’s called Southern California Aquatics. It was started in 1979 by Clay Evans and Bonnie Adair.

Evans was a silver medalist for Canada in the Montreal Olympics. Adair was a legendary youth swimmer in Southern California in the 1960s and 1970s and now coaches the Loyola Marymount University women’s swim team.

More information about the club can be found at www.swim.net/scaq.cfm.

I am not affiliated with SCAQ except as a general member. I joined about five years ago. I am not a competitive swimmer by any means, but I can attest to the physical and mental benefits of belonging to this terrific organization.
