In Obama’s head

Re “Obama’s peers didn’t see his angst,” March 11

The Times subtly suggests that Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) was lying in his memoir about the experience he had as a teenager with regard to race. Because his peers did not see it or experience it does not mean it did not happen.

What other kind of behavior would you expect from a teenager who is in the extreme minority and who desperately wants to fit into a society that is inherently racist? The beautiful thing is that he eventually came to consciousness and was made stronger by his experiences.
