There’s nothing funny about it

So Pete Carroll and USC are willing to let the “racist joke” slide [“Racism issue raised,” March 9]. The fact that thoughts and images such as these are being put forth -- even in a joking manner -- is sad, scary and unfortunate. The fact that an institution of supposed higher learning essentially condones it by providing no discipline or consequences whatsoever is unconscionable!
