* Oakland 5, at Boston 4 (10 innings): Dan Johnson doubled home the winning run in the 10th inning for the Athletics after Jonathan Papelbon suffered his first blown save in the ninth. Papelbon allowed a tying two-run homer by Travis Buck, who hadn’t played above double A before this season. Buck’s third homer of the year followed a leadoff single by Bobby Crosby.

* at Cleveland 12, Toronto 4: Rocked for three home runs in the first inning, C.C. Sabathia (4-0) buckled down and Jhonny Peralta had a career-high five runs batted in for the Indians, who won for the eighth time in nine games. Sabathia retired 16 of the final 17 batters he faced and finished with nine strikeouts in six innings.

* at Detroit 5, Baltimore 4: Pinch-hitter Sean Casey hit a tiebreaking single with one out in the eighth inning for the Tigers. Craig Monroe homered for Detroit and Placido Polanco went four for five with two runs batted in. Todd Jones pitched the ninth for his ninth save in 11 chances.

* Minnesota 9, at Tampa Bay 1: Sidney Ponson pitched seven impressive innings and Michael Cuddyer drove in two runs for the Twins before leaving with a bruised back. Ponson (2-3) gave up five hits. Both of his wins this season have come against the Devil Rays.

* at Seattle 5, Chicago 2: Richie Sexson hit a three-run home run and Jarrod Washburn allowed two singles and two solo home runs in seven innings for the Mariners, who have won six of seven. Eleven of Sexson’s 12 hits this season have been for extra bases.

* New York 10, at Texas 1: Rangers starter Kameron Loe gave up 10 hits and nine runs in four innings.

* Angels 7, at Kansas City 5: The Angels have won 15 of 17 at Kauffman Stadium.
