Israeli director David Volach’s “My Father My Lord” won the top narrative prize at the Tribeca Film Festival, while “Two Embraces,” from Mexico’s Enrique Begne, took the festival’s top new narrative filmmaker award, organizers of the sixth annual festival announced Thursday night.

American director Alex Gibney’s documentary “Taxi to the Darkside” was selected as the festival’s top documentary, and Armenia’s Vardan Hovhannisyan was honored as the top new documentary filmmaker for his “A Story of People in War & Peace.”

Among other awards, the narrative short prize went to “The Last Dog in Rwanda,” while the documentary short award was presented to “A Son’s Sacrifice.”

New York City’s fledgling Tribeca festival, which was co-founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff, is quickly turning into one of the nation’s top festivals. This year’s festival showcased 157 feature-length films and 88 short films submitted from nearly 50 countries.

The festival’s audience award will be announced tonight, when the festival closes.
