Have the spa and a wine chaser

It’s a wine cave. It’s a spa. It’s a gourmet snack break. Napa’s Spa Terra, at right, is carved out of an estate wine cave under the eight- acre Meritage Resort. The 9,000-square-foot spa offers steam grottoes, soaking pools and Mediterranean- inspired decor with custom mosaics and wrought-iron fixtures. And yes, dozens of treatments, including the $235 Solo Vino: an exfoliating grape-seed scrub, jet shower, mud mask and massage, followed by wine and cheese. A votre sante! Waikiki wheelin’

Best places to zip around Oahu in a Lotus Elise (shown above at an Alabama racetrack): the cliffs of Hanauma Bay in the morning, Koolau Mountains anytime, Diamond Head for sunsets. That’s the idea behind Room & Vroom at Hawaii’s Waikiki Parc Hotel, which starts at $565 (single or double occupancy, does not include tax) for a two-night package with a 24-hour sports-car rental. Info: (800) 422-0450; www.waikikiparc.com. The package, through Dec. 20, is subject to availability.

Monroe as art

Blond and beautiful, renowned for her naivete as much as for her sensuality, Marilyn Monroe continues to fascinate. A sparkling tribute called “Marilyn Monroe: Life as a Legend” runs through June 24 at the Dayton Art Institute in Dayton, Ohio. The collection features nearly 250 photographs, prints, paintings, videos and sculptures from such artists as Andy Warhol and Richard Avedon. The institute also is presenting a one-woman play, “Marilyn Monroe: Forever Blonde,” which author Greg Thompson created from her own words. Info: (937) 223-5277, www.daytonartinstitute.org.

Forget trinket shopping and bus tours on your next cruise. Here’s a shore excursion you can brag about: soaring 80,000 feet above the earth in a Russian MIG military jet, above. Silversea Cruises offers the high-flying thrills on a three-day excursion from St. Petersburg, Russia. After flying to Moscow for a city tour, you go to Nizhny Novgorod, where, after training, you board the MIG with a test pilot for a one-hour flight. Then it’s back to St. Petersburg by train. As souvenirs, you get a flight suit, a film of your big day, lifetime memories -- and a lighter wallet. The package price is $29,815. Info: (800) 722-9955, www.silversea.com.
