A bomb killed 10 people at a historic mosque in the southern city of Hyderabad, India, and four more died in subsequent clashes between worshipers and security forces, police said.

The bombing, which also wounded 35, and the clashes raised fears of wider Hindu-Muslim violence in the city.

Minutes after the blast at the 17th century Mecca Masjid, worshipers angered by what they said was a lack of police protection hurled stones at officers, who dispersed them with truncheons and tear gas.
