A family affair to remember

Share

THE Wilson Bros. clearly coordinated their attire before arriving at the L.A. Confidential magazine-sponsored after-party of their movie, “The Wendell Baker Story,” on May 10. Wonder which brother put out the tie-less memo? The Dallas-bred boys were equally meticulous when it came to song selection. So much so that they handed the DJ stacks of CDs from their own collections beforehand, which explains why Bob Dylan and not, say, Akon, played at the Stone Rose Lounge. 1. Eva Mendes, for one, got into the groove with her on-screen bf, Luke, who also wrote and co-directed the film. Despite the spotlight-stealing Cynthia Vincent dress, it was his old costar, 2. Kate Hudson, who grabbed the attention at the family affair. She pecked her not-so-hush-hush crush, Owen, who plays his younger brother’s nemesis in the film, and got in good with the fam, including bearded bro 3. Andrew, who co-directed the film. “This is just a perfect night,” Luke said as they closed down the joint.

Living it up for ‘Death Valley’

Black was the color of choice when it came to both table settings and dress at the launch party for designer Paula Thomas’ book, “Death Valley,” hosted by Flaunt magazine on May 8. 4. Rebecca Gayheart went to the dark side with her hubby, Eric Dane, and 5. Minnie Driver, left, and Courteney Cox Arquette, right, showed off the chic creations from Thomas, center, the Thomas Wylde designer, best known for her skull motifs. 6. Somebody should have told Diane Kruger about the little black dress requirement. She looked stunning nonetheless in silver. Kruger had a 4 a.m. call so she could not stay for the dinner in the Chateau Marmont penthouse, where guests including Balthazar Getty and David Arquette watched in shock as the Griffith Park fire raged on.

Their new projects are under wraps for now

No muumuus here! 7. A five-months pregnant Gretchen Mol, right, bellied up to fellow hot mama-to-be Bridget Moynahan at the launch party for Sloane Tanen’s book “Hatched! The Big Push from Pregnancy to Motherhood,” on May 10. Mol donned a fitted ‘40s-style number from the Liz Lange Maternity boutique, where the party was held, while Moynahan opted to show off her 7-month bump in the designer’s silk jersey. Lest anyone think that dressing in the final trimester comes easy, the itty-bitty brunet did have to see a tailor beforehand. But she had to get her dress, already in the smallest size offered, taken in.

Runners with a cause hang at the Coliseum

The sight of sexy spokesmodel Jessica Alba got hearts racing well before the EIF Revlon Run/Walk even began at the Coliseum on May 12. 8. Host Michael Chiklis got a kiss from uterine cancer survivor Fran Drescher before running the 5K. 9. Mandy Moore had to sit on the sidelines because of a fractured ankle, so she belted out her latest single, “Extraordinary,” to get the more than 50,000 participants pumped. Looked as if it worked its magic on 10. Sheryl Crow, who did a whole lot more than celebrate the completion of the race or her breast cancer-free status over Mother’s Day weekend. The singer-songwriter just adopted a 2-week-old boy, Wyatt.
