3 years’ supervision are given in conversion scam
A retired teacher who sold three Huntington Beach apartment buildings that had been fraudulently converted to condominiums was sentenced Monday to a day in prison and three years of supervised release.
Howard Richey, 82, was ordered by U.S. District Judge David O. Carter to serve two of those years on home confinement, said his attorney, Kenneth Miller.
Richey already served his day in prison, Miller said.
Richey was convicted in September on 13 counts of wire and mail fraud involving the conversion of as many as 120 condominiums without proper permits or modifications.
